THE PRAYERS OF THE FAITHFUL
With the whole people of God in Christ
Jesus, let us pray for the church, those in need, and all of God's creation.
For your church, that it may not neglect
to show hospitality to strangers but instead be a place of gracious
invitation to all. Lord, in your mercy, hear
our prayer.
For your creation, that we may be
respectful stewards of all that you have made and work for the restoration
of forests, waters, and skies. Lord, in your mercy,
hear our prayer.
For the leaders of all nations, that they
may govern with humility and conduct all affairs with justice. We pray for
the end to all forms of torture. Lord, in your mercy,
hear our prayer.
For all in need: those who are in prison,
the poor, the lame, the blind, the suffering in Pakistan, China and Russia;
and for the sick and grieving (especially),
that their hearts may be steady and that they not be afraid. Lord, in your
mercy, hear our prayer.
For this assembly, that mutual love may
thrive among us. Strengthen all marriages and bless all families, that they
may find their riches in each other rather than in the material things of
this world. Lord, in your mercy, hear our
prayer.
Giving thanks for the faithful departed
who now enjoy places of honour at the eternal feast (especially),
we pray that we may imitate their faith until the final day. Lord, in your
mercy, hear our prayer.
Into your hands, gracious God, we commend
all for whom we pray, trusting in your mercy; through Jesus Christ, our
Saviour. Amen.
